Libreville, Friday, May 12, 2023 (Infos Gabon) – A Gabonese delegation has been soaking up since this morning in Yaoundé the mechanisms for financing this process at the Special Fund for Equipment and Intermunicipal Intervention, the Cameroonian organization specializing in the matter.
The Gabonese delegation led to Cameroon by the Minister of Decentralization, Cohesion and Development, Michel Menga M’Essone, has been staying since this morning at the premises of the Special Fund for Intermunicipal Equipment and Intervention (FEICOM), the arm secular of the State of Cameroon in matters of decentralization. This visit, which falls within the framework of studies and exchange of experiences, allows the Gabonese delegation to immerse themselves in the Cameroonian model of financing the decentralization process. “Cameroon started the decentralization process a little before us. We are in the process of setting up the decentralization system in our country. The Gabonese and Cameroonian authorities are convinced of the benefits of decentralization in our respective countries”, declared Michel Menga M’Essone.
This visit follows the participation in 2020 of Mathias Otounga Ossibadjouo in the session organized by FEICOM during the 11e edition of the Central African Cross-Border Fair, an annual event held in Kye-Ossi in Cameroon. On the occasion, the Gabonese Minister for Decentralization, Cohesion and Territorial Development at the time expressed his desire to establish a partnership with the aim of inquiring about the proven experience of this organization. In order to support Gabonese institutions to work better for the development of the territories. This Friday’s meeting is an opportunity for the Gabonese delegation to acquire the tools necessary to achieve this objective. “We came here to see and listen to what the Cameroonian government is doing in terms of decentralization so that we can adapt as much as possible to Gabon,” Mr. Menga M’Essone stressed.
The Gabonese delegation is continuing its stay on Cameroonian soil this Saturday, May 13, 2023 with a descent to Mbalmayo, a locality located 50 km south of Yaoundé, where it will visit the construction site of the “School of my dreams” and the complex Market-bus station carried out by FEICOM.
