The director of the blockbuster “Avatar” James Cameron announced that he will shoot a sequel to “Avatar”. His film has broken all records by collecting nearly 700 million dollars since its release in December.
In the storyline I came up with, there are a few scenes that I later cut out because they suggest a sequel, Cameron said, as quoted by US online outlets.
The Motion Picture Guild of America has given Avatar at least eight Oscar nominations, although according to CNN the blockbuster did not make the top ten films of the year despite its box office success.
Bolivian President Evo Morales called the film an example of the fight against capitalism. According to Morales, who watched the film with his 15-year-old daughter, “Avatar” is also a call to protect the environment.
“From the point of view of the business plan, you can think about two or three parts of the film,” says James Cameron, who notes that the creation of the unique trees, creatures and the structure of the main characters took a lot of time and money. The budget of “Avatar ” exceeded 200 million dollars. According to Cameron, the main characters will remain in the sequels of the film.
The film was created thanks to the latest achievements of high technology in the film industry and transports the viewer to a completely different dimension. The plot is based on the story of a wheelchair-bound ex-Marine who – with the help of medicine – becomes an alien when another civilization is “implanted” in him in the name of conquering it for Earthlings. Getting to know the values of others, however, the main character rises against “his” people – the people of Earth.
