Cameron MacKay was named as new Canadian ambassador to Mexico replacing Graeme C. Clark, reported the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“The Honorable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, announced today the following diplomatic nomination: Cameron MacKay is designated as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Mexican States,” according to a statement from the Canadian government.
Who is Cameron MacKay, Canada‘s new ambassador to Mexico?
Cameron MacKay studied Economics and Industrial Relations at McGill University and has a postgraduate degree at the University of York.
He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in 1995.
He was director of Regional Trade Policy, director general of China Trade Policy, director general of the Trade Negotiations Office and director general of the Trade Sectors Office.
He was also director of operations for the Foreign and Defense Policy Secretariat of the Privy Council Office.
Abroad, Cameron MacKay worked at the Permanent Mission to the World Trade Organization in Geneva.
Additionally, he served as ambassador to Costa Rica, Honduras and Nicaragua and to Indonesia and East Timor.
Most recently, he was High Commissioner to India and Ambassador to Bhutan and Nepal.
