The German classic camera manufacturer Leica has collaborated with many smartphone manufacturers before, but now they are releasing their very own smart phone for the first time, writes Android Authority.
The phone, which was launched during a press event in Japan, is called Leitz Phone 1. It is a smart phone with flagship specifications – 5,000 mAh large battery, Qualcomm Snappdragon 888 processor, 12 GB of working memory, 256 GB of storage and a 6.6 inch OLED screen with 240 Hz refresh rate. Basically, this is a Sharp Aquos R6, which Leica built on.
The camera is of course important, as it is Leica we are talking about. Here is a 20 megapixel camera with a (1) inch sensor, the largest so far on a smart phone. The round camera module also has a magnetic lens cover.
Leica Leitz Phone 1 is available for purchase through an operator in Japan at a price of 187,920 yen, just over SEK 14,500. No global launch has been announced at the time of writing.
