With its quirky universe and its great ability to write earworms, Bleu Jeans Bleu is highly coveted for writing “jingles”, says singer Mathieu “Claude Cobra” Lafontaine. Through a shower of proposals, the group agreed to do the theme song for the new version of Cafe Camera, on the air from January 12 on TVA.
We warn you: the song will hardly come out of your head. Will it be as striking as the previous theme, which we heard for ten years? Mathieu Lafontaine hopes so. And he knows the comparison will be inevitable.
“When I hung up with the producer, I already had my idea,” he says. I was thinking to myself why not bring the two main notes back and make it a more energetic key, like someone had made it with a lot of caffeine. That of the first version was very soft. There, I wanted to go elsewhere, but making a reference to the past. “
“When I finished it, I said to myself that I would have kept it for the album,” he adds. When it does, it’s a good sign! ”

After agreeing to advertise for IGA this fall, Bleu Jeans Bleu received “an avalanche of proposals”. And the exercise seems to please the singer and the composer a lot.
“You can’t say yes to everything,” he explains. But the pandemic has opened up our calendar. If we had been on tour, I wouldn’t have been able to say yes. The pandemic is negative for everyone, but for us, it has given us several great opportunities, including this one. ”
Eight years after leaving the air, Cafe Camera will return to TVA on Tuesday evenings at 9 p.m. with a whole new lineup of actors, including Anne-Élisabeth Bossé, Didier Lucien, Sylvie Léonard, Marie-Soleil Dion and José Gaudet. The realization was entrusted to René Richard Cyr and Matthieu Handfield.
