SC Cambuur has managed to beat fellow PhD student Go Ahead Eagles. Although it was 1-1 at halftime, the Leeuwarders ran out to a 5-2 victory after the break.
Go Ahead Eagles took the lead in Friesland after more than half an hour via Luuk Brouwers. The goal had a smell of offside, but after watching the VAR, the goal was declared valid. Tom Boere signed for the deserved equalizer in the injury time of the first half.
The tea must have tasted good in Cambuur’s dressing room, because before minute sixty there was 4-1 on the scoreboard. Fifteen minutes before the end, Cambuur ran even further after a mistake by Justin Bakker. Once again Boere, Marco Tol, Jamie Jacobs and Tamás Kiss scored on the side of the Frisians. Ten minutes before the end, debutant Iñigo Córdoba did something in return for Go Ahead. For Kees van Wonderen, the defeat is a hard blow against the direct competitor.
The loss does not give the people of Deventer confidence. Something the team could use, since the IJsselderby is on the program next week. Kuwait receives PEC Zwolle in its own Adelaarshorst. Cambuur may travel to Amsterdam next week, for a tough job against Ajax.
