The PSdeG-PSOE undertakes to redesign and reformulate the connection project of the Via Artabra so as to avoid a “irreversible” environmental damage in the wetland of To Gándara while executing an essential project to structure the mobility of the metropolitan area. The Socialists also demand the continuation of the road to the A6 motorway.
The head of the list for A Coruña in the socialist candidacy for the regional elections has visited the council of Cambre with part of the municipal corporation. There he has shown the commitment of the socialists with this natural area of the municipality and that it is included in the biosphere reserve.
Pablo Arangüena says that the commitment of the Socialists remains in a connection of the Vía Ártabra with the A6: “It is about to be destroyed by the Xunta de Galicia in the exit route of the Vía Ártabra in breach of the agreements of 2004 and for reasons dark and urban interests that mean the cancellation of an environmental space of great value. We are committed to redesigning this project to prevent the destruction of the wetland of A Gándara. “
The socialist candidate made this commitment after meeting with the mayor of Cambre, Oscar Garcia Patiño, and the PSOE spokesperson in this town hall, Lúa Sanguiñedo.
The A Gándara wetland is home to four species in danger of extinction and others in a state of great vulnerability. In addition, the socialists explain, it works as a barrier against possible floods in a large area. A Gándara is included in the Biosphere Reserve and is listed as a habitat of priority interest of the European Union and Intangible Asset of the Xunta de Galicia.
Pablo Arangüena has pointed out that the PSdeG has been advocating for years to resume the original project that provided for the connection of the Vía Ártabra with the A6 motorway instead of ending on the Ap9 motorway as it does not imply an environmental impact.
The PSdeG parliamentary group presented in February 2019 a Proposal not of law in the Parliament of Galicia in which he urged the Galician Government to adopt all the technical, economic and road planning measures that ensure the priority connection of the Vía Ártabra with the A6 to provide service to the entire metropolitan area of A Coruña.
