Cambodia’s Angkor Wat temple complex welcomes 177% increase in foreign visitors in 2023

PHNOM PENH, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) — On Monday (Jan. 1), Angkor Enterprise Reported that Angkor Archaeological Park or the famous Angkor Wat temple complex of Cambodia. It welcomed 798,069 foreign visitors in 2023, up 177 percent from the previous year’s figure of 287,454.

The park earned US$37.1 million from ticket sales last year, up 222 percent from US$11.5 million (about 393 million baht) in 2022.

As for the number of foreign visitors during December 2023, there were 98,073 people, generating income of 4.65 million US dollars (approximately 159 million baht), an increase of 57 percent and 85 percent, respectively, compared to the same month in 2022.

Incidentally, Angkor Archaeological Park or Angkor Wat Temple Group has a size of 401 square kilometers. It is located in Siem Reap Province, in the northwest of Cambodia. It was classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992 and is Cambodia’s most popular tourist destination.
