Ca’Mario San José Obrero is proclaimed champion of the Cadet League

The Municipal Pavilion of Titerroy hosted this past weekend the final phase of the men’s cadet handball category, with the League champion title at stake and the representative of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands Championship to be held in April in Fuerteventura. Ca’Mario San José Obrero, after defeating CB Ajaches in the semifinals, prevailed over CB Zonzamas in the final played at midday on Sunday, and was proclaimed champion of the Men’s Cadet Handball League.

Ca’Mario San José Obrero was intractable during the development of the regular phase of the competition, clearly winning the six games played and occupying the first place in the standings. Chinijos PC Box entered the final phase as second classified, and the lineup was completed with the presence of CB Zonzamas and CB Ajaches.

The semifinals were played on Saturday at the Titerroy Municipal Pavilion, with Ca’Mario San José Obrero gaining access to the final by beating CB Ajaches 35-9. In the other semifinal, CB Zonzamas beat Chinijos PC Box by a tight 32-30, in a match that required extra time to determine the winner of the match.

The final faced Ca’Mario San José Obrero and CB Zonzamas at noon on Sunday, a match that was even in its first minutes. Those from the Titerroy neighborhood tightened their defense in the last 15 minutes of the first half, at which point they managed to open the gap on the scoreboard and go into the break with an eleven-goal advantage (19-8). In the second half, San José Obrero sealed the match and ended up beating the batatero team 39-20.

Ca’Mario San José Obrero, led from the bench by Quique Martín and Paco Hernández, had in this final phase a team made up of Tristan Mencey González, Daniel Martín, Pablo Fajardo, Pablo Hernández, Alejandro Hernández, Matías Pérez, Miguel Ángel Gordillo, Asael Mesa, Yamal Nasri, Bayron Serna, Rubén Méndez and Aimar Luis.
