NFL MVP Cam Newton was involved in a brawl during a 7-on-7 football event over the weekend. The incident was captured on video and quickly went viral on social media. In the footage, Newton can be seen getting into an altercation with several men from Top Shelf Performance, who had teams participating in the “We Ball Sports” 7v7 tournament in Atlanta.
The fight reportedly started under a pop-up tent at the top of the football field and then spilled over to a fence. Newton was seen refusing to let go of someone as people tried to break up the fight. A man in a white T-shirt then threw a punch, but no severe injuries were reported. Eventually, a security officer intervened, and the crowd dispersed.
Newton’s “C1N” 7v7 team was also participating in the event. Instagram Stories from the team’s account showed Newton wearing an all-black outfit with a top hat, which matched his attire in the video.
The cause of the brawl is still unknown, but it may have been related to a video in which Newton made a bold statement. He said, “If you beat my team – 15U C1N Red or 18UC1N Platinum – I will pay every single player on the team.” This comment was made before the tournament but has been a recurring statement from Newton in the past.
Steph Brown, the general manager of TopShelf Performance, responded to Newton’s video on his Instagram Story. He wrote, “We need that up out ya @cameron1newton or you can write a check payable too [sic] @topshelf7v7.” Brown also posted another message that read, “It Ain’t No Fun When the [rabbit emoji] Got the [watergun emoji],” while tagging C1N’s 7v7 team account.
Interestingly, TopShelf Performance’s squad defeated Newton’s 18U C1N Platinum squad on the first day of the tournament. However, neither Brown nor TSP CEO TJ Brown have commented on the incident.
Fox News Digital reached out to both TopShelf Performance and Newton’s “C1N” team for comment but did not receive an immediate response.
This brawl raises questions about sportsmanship and the potential consequences of making bold promises. While it’s unclear what penalties Newton and the other individuals involved may face, the NFL has been known to impose significant punishments for fights that occur before and during games.
As the video continues to circulate on social media, fans and critics alike are eagerly awaiting further updates on the situation. The incident serves as a reminder that even professional athletes can find themselves caught up in heated confrontations, highlighting the importance of maintaining composure both on and off the field.
