Calvin Klein Underwear Ad Featuring FKA twigs Banned: Is Society Becoming More Prudish?

The well-known “Calvin Klein” slogan “Calvins or nothing” is used for advertising. The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) states that the poster may be offensive because FKA twigs depicted as a “stereotypical sex object” that has received complaints. Baldness forcing “the viewer to focus on the model’s body and not on the clothes that the company is promoting”.

The singer herself does not agree with this, she posted a photo on her Instagram profile and wrote: “I don’t see any “stereotypical sexual object” here, as they called me. I see a beautiful, strong, non-white woman whose incredible body has been able to overcome pain you can’t even imagine.”

FKA twigs adds that when you remember other advertising campaigns, you can’t help but notice the double standards. This is most likely a reference to actor Jeremy Allen White, who advertised Calvin Klein underwear wearing nothing but panties.

ASA representatives have told the BBC that they have received three complaints, and one is enough to start an investigation. More than 80% of cases do not go that far.

“Calvin Klein” says that it has been running such advertising campaigns for many years, FKA twigs is a “self-confident and strong woman”, depicted in a natural pose and all delicate areas are hidden.
