Calvià taxi drivers will wear a uniform and must know English and German
The 200 taxi drivers in Calvià must wear a uniform and have a minimum knowledge of English, German and places of interest. This is established by the new modification of the municipal regulation of the public car taxi service, initially approved by the plenary session of the city council.
According to the Deputy Mayor for General Services and Infrastructures, Juan Recasens, the modifications introduced to the regulation in force in 2013 have been agreed with the Calvià Taxi Group and seek to adapt the service “to the new times, giving a more professional image” .
Among the main improvements made to the regulation, is the obligation for each vehicle to have a POS terminal so that customers can pay with a credit card.
Also the possibility of carrying objects or luggage without any passenger traveling in the vehicle; which will allow, for example, to transport to the airport the possible suitcase or any other item that a tourist has left forgotten in the hotel.
As for the professional training of drivers, from now on it will only be possible to obtain taxi licenses after accreditation of a minimum knowledge of English and German, as well as places of cultural interest and the ability to locate official centers.
In order to guarantee that all taxi professionals in Calvià can reach the level of knowledge of languages now required, the Calvià Town Hall will promote voluntary and free courses.
Finally, in summer they must wear a navy blue polo shirt or short sleeve shirt, with the Taxis de Calvià crest (TC, the cobalt blue T and the orange yellow C, and with the Taxis de Calvià inscription under the shield).
During the winter months they can incorporate a vest or jacket of the same color with the embroidered shield. As bottoms, in summer you can wear bone-colored bermuda shorts without side pockets, or long pants of any color or jeans without motifs. In the case of women, they may also choose to wear a bone-colored skirt without openings and a maximum of three centimeters above the knee.
