The GGD will start on Tuesday with the vaccination of the first mobile over-90s living at home. This has been announced by the umbrella organization GGD-GHOR. “Due to the change in the vaccination strategy of Minister De Jonge, the GGDs can start vaccinating this group earlier”, the organization reports. A day later, the second vaccination is given to healthcare personnel. That got the first shot three weeks ago.
People over 90 living at home who are mobile enough to visit a vaccination site will receive an invitation from their doctor from tomorrow. Then they can immediately make an appointment for an injection. According to the GGD, there are 90,000 over-90s living at home, of which an estimated half is mobile enough.
Elderly people between 85 and 90 who live independently will receive an invitation from the RIVM from the end of the week. According to the GGD-GHOR, this group of approximately 220,000 people is invited in connection with the delivery of vaccines in phases.
The GGD expects to perform 200,000 vaccinations per week in the course of February. That will increase even further in the coming months. To facilitate this, a number of vaccination locations will be expanded.
