According to information Yahoo News, activist calls to boycott Hogwarts Legacy due to author J.K. Rowling’s comments about transgender people have failed. Despite numerous calls not to buy the game, Hogwarts Legacy pre-sales are skyrocketing and the game has already become the best-selling game on the PlayStation Store this week, causing huge disappointment for “justice warriors” on forums like Resetera. Rowling’s haters are also disappointed that Simon Pegg has joined the casting of the game. As one user with the nickname GummyBear stated, “I used to really like Simon Pegg. But now he’s on my shit list.”

Especially disappointed was Jesse Earle, a trans gamer and internet journalist known by the pseudonym “Jessigender”. He posts comments on his Twitter from people who have bought the game, accusing Rowling of playing the victim, squeezing more money out of people, and accusing the players of making the billionaire even richer.

Hogwarts Legacy is an upcoming action/RPG video game set in the Harry Potter fantasy universe developed by American studio Avalanche Software and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment under the Portkey Games label. The release of the game is scheduled for February 10, 2023.
