The film will tell about five Ukrainian women in Latvia who are trying to create a new life for themselves and their children. The film will be made by Ukrainian director Marina Nazarenko, who has taken refuge with her children in Latvia since the Russian invasion in March this year.
The film will focus on five women who would never have met in Ukraine in other circumstances: Tatiana Tattoo from Kharkiv, Luba from dance coach Lena from Mariupol, former factory worker Luda from Zaporizhia, whose husband had just been wounded in the war, and Marina himself, who has arrived in Latvia. from Kiev.
“How to get out of the occupied and bombed territories of Russia, how a new life awaits you, how to find a place in this new reality, how to be responsible for everything, find a place to live, work. How to deal with your internal crisis What to say to your own children, what it means to hear your husband once a day at a certain time and what happens if he doesn’t call. Director Marina Nazarenko is the author of two documentaries and several television programs. For the past year and a half, Marina has been on parental leave, taking care of her little girl. Her life changed rapidly after the Russian invasion. In the Kiev neighborhood where Marina’s family lived, bombs began to fall, a house across the street was blown up and evacuation began. Marina remembers that the evacuation was one of the most horrible experiences of her life. A huge panic-stricken crowd at the train station pushed him and the girl to the rails just before the train arrived. Marina’s family was rescued at the last minute by Ukrainian soldiers who fired warning shots into the air to appease the crowd. During the trip to the border, 15 people were crushed in a four-seater train compartment. The trip took place in complete darkness, the windows were darkened, there were several people lying on each shelf of the compartment. During the last 18 km to the border, Marina walked with children.
Well, Marina has been living in Riga for several months now and is trying to create a new life for herself and her children until the time comes when the family will be able to return home. While here, Marina wants to create a documentary that will preserve the stories of her and other Ukrainian women who have come to Latvia for the future.
