Called Shin Tae-yong, Elkan Baggott is still cursed at Indonesian

KOMPAS.com – Elkan Baggott admitted that he was still not fluent in Indonesian for daily conversation.

Elkan Baggott’s name became warm in the ears of football fans in the country after he was called to follow the training camp U19 national team Indonesia.

Elkan Baggott was one of 46 players called up by the Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong, to follow the training camp in Jakarta.

The national team and U19 training camp is planned to take place over two weeks from 23 July to 8 August 2020.

Elkan Baggott is currently strengthening the Premier League third caste team, Ipswich Town U18.

Although born in Thailand, Elkan Baggot has Indonesian blood from his mother.

Before going to England in 2011, Elkan Baggott had spent his childhood in Indonesia.

Now, after being called up to strengthen the U19 national team, Elkan Baggott claimed he was still not fluent in Indonesian.

This was revealed by Elkan Baggott when he was a guest star on the Youtube channel Yussa Nugraha.

In the interview, Elkan Baggott also expressed his love for Indonesia.

“I only know a few words. I am not very fluent in using Indonesian,” Elkan Baggott was quoted as saying by BolaSport.com.

“However, if people speak Indonesian, I might be able to understand a few words,” Elkan Baggott said.

“I lived in Indonesia for three years. I was born in Bangkok, Thailand. My mother is Indonesian. We are happy in Indonesia,” Elkan Baggott added.

For U19 Indonesia national team, training camps are part of the preparation before taking part in the 2020 UFC U19 Cup.

The AFC U19 2020 Cup will be held in Uzbekistan on 14 to 31 October 2020.

AFC U19 Cup 2020 is said to be a benchmark for the U19 national team squad that will be deployed at the 2021 U20 World Cup.

The Indonesian U19 national team’s training camp this time is likely to be moved to South Korea according to Shin Tae-yong’s request.

However, until now it has not been confirmed even though the ranks of PSSI had met with the South Korean Embassy in Jakarta last week.

In addition to the U19 national team, Shin Tae-yong also summoned 26 senior national team players to attend the training camp.

The national team’s training camp aims to face the remaining three matches of the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers and also the 2020 AFF Cup.
