JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD again explained about his decision to repatriate Rizieq Shihab which caused a crowd at Soekarno Hatta Airport.
Mahfud considered it wrong if Rizieq Shihab declared himself responsible for instigating the crowd.
Mahfud explained that the decision to pick up and escort Rizieq Shihab when he arrived in Indonesia was a government discretion.

However, the crowd that occurred after Rizieq Shihab returned to Indonesia was not the government’s discretion.
“So the alibi is wrong to say that the pick-up and crowd at the airport is the fault of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs for giving permission to go home and pick up. Pick-up and delivery are discretionary in administrative law, not criminal law. So the criminal charges are the crowd mobilized after that,” Mahfud said via his account. His personal Twitter, Saturday (27/3/2021).
Mahfud added that his statement regarding Rizieq Shihab’s return was very clear.
