Called: – Fraud

The police constantly report that people are being called from the police phone number and asked to provide their personal details.

The police have repeatedly been clear that this is not how they behave and have claimed that it is a fraud.

On Wednesday afternoon they were contacted by over 50 people who were called by the “police”.

– The police received inquiries today from people who were called from phone numbers belonging to the Oslo police. In these conversations, they were asked to provide personal information. This is a fraud attempt and not how the police act. Be vigilant, the police write on Twitter.

On Tuesday, several police districts reported being contacted by people who had been called by someone posing as the police immigration unit (PU).

– The Police Immigration Unit is aware of the fact that several people are being called from their number, by someone threatening and claiming to be from the police, as well as being asked to provide their personal details. This is not the police calling and giving no personal details, the Sør-East Police District wrote Tuesday.

The Oslo police were even clearer.

– It has been claimed by callers that they are calling from the police and asking for account numbers and social security numbers. THE POLICE NEVER DO THIS.
