call to strike this Saturday in Carrefour stores

Several unions are calling on employees of Carrefour stores to strike this Saturday across France.

In the Lyon area, this movement should be followed in particular by the stores of Villeurbanne, Ecully, Vénissieux and Vaulx-en-Velin.

Despite the announcement of exceptional 2020 results, the pursuit of its investments abroad and the upgrading of its shareholder policy, Carrefour management continues to question the social status and working conditions of its employees.“, can we read in a press release from the CFDT.

For this beginning of the Easter weekend, the unions are therefore asking employees to stop working. In particular, they are asking for an increase in the working hours of the cleaning company, a “return to decent working conditions“, or “maintaining the purchasing power of employees by upgrading salary scales“, in a sector where employees have been on the front line since the start of the health crisis.

For its part, the Carrefour sign ensures that “this year, majority agreements concerning annual salary negotiations have already been signed with FO, CGC and CFTC to increase employee salaries. For example, a cashier employee in a hypermarket will benefit in 2021 from a purchasing power gain of 530 euros gross, or the equivalent of 30% of a month’s salary. In addition, Carrefour was also the only player in the sector to pay a bonus of 1,000 euros to all its employees in May 2020. Employees will receive an average of 1,350 euros in profit-sharing and profit-sharing bonuses“.
