Call of Duty: Warzone has reached six million players within 24 hours. As a result, the popularity of the free-to-play battle royal game is increasing much faster than that of the Apex Legends and Fortnite at the beginning.
Call of Duty: Warzone was released on Tuesday and on Twitter reports the Call of Duty account the number of players. It is not known how many players already owned Modern Warfare and how many people downloaded the free extension separately. The game is available for free for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Analyst Daniel Ahmad compares the numbers with the numbers from Apex Legends and Fortnite when those games just came out. At the beginning of last year, the former game had 2.5 million players after a day and ten million after three days. No details of Fortnite are known from the first day; after two weeks the counter reached ten million players.
Fortnite eventually grew to more than two hundred million players with the addition of mobile versions. Call of Duty: Warzone will probably not get such a mobile variant, because there is already a mobile Call of Duty game with battle-royale mode. The Adroid version of that alone has been installed over 50 million times.
