Call of Duty to Stay on PlayStation Despite Microsoft Deal: Latest News

Call of Duty will remain on the “PlayStation” despite the “Microsoft” deal

Microsoft announced today, Sunday, that the two technology giants, Microsoft and Sony, have reached a deal to continue releasing the popular “Call of Duty” video games on the PlayStation gaming platform.

Microsoft’s head of gaming, Phil Spencer, tweeted: “We are pleased to announce that Microsoft and PlayStation have signed a binding agreement to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation following the acquisition of Activision Blizzard.”

And “Microsoft”, which owns the competing Xbox game console for “PlayStation”, acquired the Activision Blizzard game studio, which produces Call of Duty, in January 2022.

The merger raised fears of monopoly in the gaming sector, prompting regulatory authorities in America and Britain to suspend the acquisition.

The “binding agreement” means that Call of Duty games will continue to be released on both Xbox and PlayStation.

“Since day one of this acquisition, we have been committed to addressing the concerns of regulatory authorities, platform and game developers, and consumers,” Microsoft President Brad Smith tweeted.

“Even after we cross the finish line to get this deal approved, we will remain focused on ensuring that Call of Duty remains available on more platforms and for consumers than ever before.”

Sony previously sought to block Microsoft’s takeover of Activision Blizzard, which also produces hits like Candy Crush and World of Warcraft.

The acquisition will make Microsoft the third largest company in the gaming industry in terms of revenue, right after Tencent and Sony.
