Call of Duty får antifusksystemet Ricochect

The battle between cheaters and game developers is a protracted battle that has escalated as more titles revolve around multiplayer modes. Cheaters can become a nuisance to the point that it completely destroys the gaming experience, something like the new Call of Duty: Vanguard tampades med during the game’s latest open beta test.

Both Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone will thus have stronger protection against cheaters with new ones antifusksystemet Ricochet. The system will combat cheating on several fronts, including kernel-level drivers for PC. This is not unusual in itself, but the method is somewhat controversial and has previously been criticized for the degree of competence required.

A kernel-level driver runs under the application layer in what can be described as the kernel of the operating system. It thus has the opportunity to control and interact with other ongoing processes that may affect the game and gain a different type of insight into the user’s system. According to Activison, it only runs when the game is running and shuts down when the game ends. To safeguard user privacy, the driver should also only monitor and report activity related to Call of Duty.

In addition to this, machine learning (ML) is also used to a greater extent to improve the algorithms that examine data from the game’s servers. This should make it easier for the anti-cheating system to detect suspicious behavior patterns or other data that indicate that players do not have clean flour in the bag.

Call of Duty: Warzone will be the first out and get Ricochet while the game is updated with the new map Pacific later this year. The update to Call of Duty: Vanguard does not get an exact time, but is only referred to as “at a later time”. Once the anti-cheat system is implemented, the kernel driver becomes a requirement to be able to play the game on PC.
