Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Launches Day-One on Game Pass – What This Means for Sales and Subscribers

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is the first in the series to arrive on Game Pass from day one. Analysts believe the game will generate significant growth for the subscription service, albeit at the expense of sales.

Various analysts have spoken to games.biz business believe between 2.5 and 4 million new subscribers because of Call of Duty.

In return, Michael Pachter of Wedbush Securities estimates that Activision could lose up to 6 million sales. That’s because of Game Pass subscribers who would have bought the game.

It won’t be clear whether the campaign will actually be successful until a month from now, when the new subscriptions expire. Then Microsoft will see how many people renew and stay in the Game Pass ecosystem.

Ampere’s Piers-Harding Rolls further speculates that Call of Duty on Game Pass may not draw players away from PlayStation. He predicts that those who own both consoles may choose to play Black Ops 6 on Xbox, while PlayStation players may stick to their platform.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. To play through Game Pass, you must subscribe to Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass. The game is included through Game Pass for Console or the new Game Pass Standard.
