He Ministry of Economy (MINECO) of Guatemala launched the call to participate in the Tu Oportunidad Becas de Inglés program, which promotes the skills of Guatemalans to obtain better job opportunities.
The ministry highlighted that this program is being worked on under an alliance between the Government of Guatemala, through MINECO, and the Technical Institute for Training and Productivity (INTECAP). This alliance aims to promote information and training processes in the English language. With this, the participants strengthen their skills and increase their competencies.

As a result, 8,500 English scholarships are expected to be awarded during 2023 to people who meet the requirements and apply for one of the opportunities before March 31.

Through this program, MINECO offers Guatemalans the opportunity to receive training courses in the English language from beginner to advanced level. The courses will be taught online for four months.
Likewise, the English scholarship includes financial support of approximately 6,900 quetzales for each beneficiary. This includes the following:
- Registration and tuition cost with the corresponding training service provider
- Acquisition of an electronic device as a tool to receive the course
- Cost of a data package
- Specific amount for personal expenses
According to the authorities, these benefits will depend on the type of scholarship obtained, which can be initial or extended.
About the scholarships
The initial scholarship has a 100% virtual modality with a duration of four hours a day for four months.
In this sense, those selected will receive training services from INTECAP, in addition, it includes the financial support mentioned above.
One of the main requirements to be able to apply is not having benefited from the program in previous years, so that the person can be trained from the beginner level.
Besides, the extended scholarship maintains the same duration and daily hours. However, it does not include the specific amount for the acquisition of the electronic device. This is because it is aimed at people who were already beneficiaries of the program in previous years and who wish to continue their training process from the intermediate to the advanced level.
