The chief representative of the six-party talks between Korea and Japan discussed ways to co-operate with North Korea over the phone.

Noh Gyu-deok, head of the Korean Peninsula Peace Bargaining Headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that on the afternoon of the 15th, the chief representative of the North Korean nuclear weapons in Korea and Japan had a consultation with Takehiro Funakoshi, the head of Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Asia and Oceania.

The two sides recently shared an assessment of the situation on the Korean Peninsula, and exchanged opinions on ways to cooperate with Japan and Korea to make progress on the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and the settlement of permanent peace while stably managing the current situation.

In addition, it has decided to continue close communication and cooperation between the two countries on the North Korean nuclear and North Korean issues.

The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs also conveyed the fact of the telephone discussion between Director Roh and Director Funakoshi through a press release on the day, saying, “The two sides recently exchanged opinions on the situation in North Korea, and then the three countries, Korea, Japan, and South Korea and the United States worked closely together to resolve issues related to North Korea. I confirmed that I was going.”

Earlier, on December 23, last year, head of headquarters Roh and director Funakoshi held the first meeting of the North Korean nuclear chief representatives of Korea and Japan.
