Sean “Diddy” Combs used to celebrate big parties, but the rapper now spent his 55th birthday behind bars. There was a call from his seven children.
Sean “Diddy” Combs celebrated his 55th birthday in custody at New York’s Metropolitan Detention Center. His son Justin Combs posted a video on Instagram in which all seven of the rapper’s children congratulated their father in a call. The two-year-old daughter Love sings the “Happy Birthday” song and at the end blows out a candle on a cake.
“I love you all so much,” says the musician on the phone. He is further heard saying that he is proud of her and can’t wait to see her soon. Sean Combs thanked his children for their support. “I have the best family in the world,” he added. In the video, three sons and three daughters can be seen gathered together around a table. Daughter Chance joined in via video call. He has seven children aged 2 to 33 from four relationships.
Two weeks ago, his eldest son also spoke up on Instagram. “The last month has destroyed our family,” Quincy Combs captioned a family photo on Oct. 22. “Many have condemned both him and us based on accusations, conspiracy theories and false narratives that have spiraled into absurdity on social media.”
He then addressed his father directly in the post: “We stick together and support you every step of the way. We hold on to the truth, knowing it will prevail and nothing will break the strength of our family.” He ended his Instagram post with the words: “We miss you and love you, dad!”
Sean Combs has been in custody since mid-September. The rapper is accused by prosecutors in New York of sex trafficking, organized crime and other crimes. Combs pleaded not guilty. The trial is currently tentatively scheduled to begin in May.
There are also a number of civil lawsuits alleging sexual abuse. A law firm in Houston, Texas, recently said it was representing 120 people with allegations against the rapper.
With hits like “I’ll Be Missing You” and “Bad Boy For Life”, Combs was one of the most successful rappers in the world in recent decades. Over the course of his career he used the pseudonyms “Puff Daddy”, “P. Diddy” and “Diddy”, among others.
