Jakarta –
A number of initiators driving the revival of the Golkar Party have urged the holding of an Extraordinary National Conference (Munaslub) to be held in July 2023. This insistence was not a spontaneous movement, but exponents have been pushing for the National Conference since a year ago.
“We have discussed this a year ago, we should have held a general assembly, one year ago, in June-July, last year it should have been a general meeting, but we postponed it by one year until now, in July, because we still want to give Mr Airlangga a chance,” said Party Exponent Golkar Lawrence TP Siburian was quoted in a written statement, Sunday (30/7/2023).
Lawrence said that this opportunity had been given to Airlangga for one year. However, the seniors considered that there were no changes made by Airlangga.
“We see that there has been no change, what does that mean? One, he is not clear as a candidate for president/vice president, then the two coalitions are unclear, thirdly, where the Golkar Party is going is also unclear,” said Lawrence.
“Well, we, the seniors and founding organizations, assess, discuss, evaluate this is a matter of leadership, this is a matter of his inability to lead the party,” he added.
Lawrence emphasized that the Munaslub proposal had nothing to do with the recent summons of Airlangga by the Attorney General’s Office. This is because the Munaslub was long ago proposed in the middle of last year.
“Actually, the Munaslub issue has nothing to do with it, it has nothing to do with the Airlangga case. Nothing, we don’t know at all that he has a case and we don’t see that, we don’t consider it to be holding a Munaslub. It’s just a coincidence. We have decided that we have to National Conference, all of a sudden he has a case. So it’s just a coincidence,” said Lawrence.
Lawrence, who is Deputy Chairman of DEPINAS SOKSI, said that there were a number of figures who actually deserved to be general chairmen of Golkar. One of them is Bahlil Lahadalia, who recently declared himself ready to run for general chairman election.
“All of our figures who have the capacity to become general chairman to replace Pak Airlangga, we have made a matrix, and we have analyzed them one by one. It’s okay, it’s okay. Everyone who is a member of the Golkar Party has the right to nominating himself to be chairman as long as he complies with the rules. That is, the first one has at least been an administrator for 5 years, that’s fine,” said Lawrence.
He added that Bahlil had also been the general treasurer of the DPD Golkar Papua, so there was no reason to refuse if he intended to become Ketum to replace Airlangga Hartarto.
“If Pak Bahlil has rights, there’s no problem. We don’t have a problem, go ahead,” said Lawrence.
Lawrence stated that Golkar needed a fresh figure to save the party ahead of the 2024 General Election, which is only months away. According to him, Golkar’s seats in the DPR could decline following survey trends if there is no change of chairperson soon. From 85 seats in 2019, to only 60 in 2024.
“This means that the Golkar Party, from a large party to a middle party, we don’t want that. Golkar is the longest-running party. Let’s see if our survey can be under PKS. That was when I debated on TV with Nurdin Halid and Burhanuddin Muhtadi, before I started get it that Golkar is under the PKS vote, we don’t want this,” said Lawrence.
“Golkar is on the verge of becoming a small party, not yet but on the verge of becoming a small party. So our mid-level party is not ready, let alone small,” he continued.
He assessed whoever the next chairman would be, the important thing was there was a refresher on the strategy. For this reason, the National Assembly urgently needs to be carried out.
“So that makes us as seniors ask Airlangga Lewa to resign and then hold the National Conference, to replace him. We don’t have any personal problems, right? Because he’s a symbol of the Golkar party,” said Lawrence.
