Accident at Mont Blanc in August 2024@(betweenHeadlineTag)>
In August of this year there was an accident on Mont Blanc when several seracs broke off at around 4100 meters and thundered into the depths. A Frenchman was hit and killed by the ice masses, other mountaineers were affected, including two Germans.
The two German men, aged 30 and 39, were initially searched for by helicopter, dog teams and numerous mountain rescuers. However, the measures were stopped after a few days. It is believed that the two were swept into a crevasse and buried under a 10 meter thick blanket of compact snow. They have been missing since then.

The consequences of the accident at Mont Blanc for the wife of one of the two men have now become known through a current appeal for donations. On the Instagram channel of the Allgäu Relief Fund We are currently asking for support for the bereaved.
“Carmen and Simon’s great love were the mountains,” the post says, adding that the couple moved to Nesselwang in the Allgäu region because of their shared passion for mountains and bought a house.
After a description of what happened at Monblanc, it continues: “Simon’s wife Carmen is now left alone with everything. The loans for the house have to be paid off, ongoing costs have to be covered and payments cannot be stopped in some cases because Simon is still considered missing and none Death certificate is available. Therefore we would like to ask you – help Carmen!”
