Save lives & win: DRK blood donation service starts “We celebrate life” campaign
Life is valuable. Blood donors save lives and give hope to other people. This achievement must be celebrated! During the campaign period (September 30th – November 29th, 2024), the DRK is giving away 10x an adventure weekend for two people in the Tripsdrill adventure park or in the Sinsheim/Speyer Technology Museum as well as 500x two Cineplex cinema tickets among all blood donors.

Based on a 5-day week, around 15,000 blood donations are needed every day in Germany. Due to the limited shelf life, every blood donation counts, every day.
Demographic change as a challenge: young blood donors needed!
Demographic change also has an impact on blood donation. “At the moment, the so-called “baby boomer” generation is the foundation for blood donations. However, in the future you will increasingly need donations yourself. Due to demographic change, “a broader foundation” is needed – that is, more young people who are consistently and regularly willing to donate blood,” explains Martin Oesterer, press spokesman for the DRK Blood Donation Service Baden-Württemberg – Hesse. The DRK appeals to everyone who is undecided: It is never too late to donate blood for the first time!
This is how blood donation works: Reserve your desired date online and submit it on the day of your donation.
Drink lightly (2-3 liters, non-alcoholic). Register on site by presenting your ID card. Me-
fill out the medical questionnaire. By means of a small laboratory control and a medical procedure
It will then be determined whether donations can be made. This is followed by blood donation, which only takes 5-10
It lasts minutes and is followed by a well-deserved rest break with delicious snacks.
