“Caligae Teatro: A Journey to Classical Greece and Beyond”

Every time I have had the opportunity to see Caligae Teatro on stage, I have not hesitated for a moment to attend. They always leave me amazed with their talent, enthusiasm and energy. It is fascinating to travel to classical Greece, escape from reality, immerse yourself in different emotional states for a period of time that is always short for me. During the performance you learn and discover that centuries ago things happened very similar to what we live in today. It seems to me important and necessary to generate a chain of transmission between Classical Antiquity and the modern world, to reflect, question and understand the existence of things as we know them.

Since I also lived the enriching and unforgettable experience of giving life to a character as a young girl, I know very well what it takes to go on stage. And the effort and intense work that is carried out, for months, individually and as a group to carry out a play. It is not only about memorizing a text and bringing the characters to life. It involves an enormous job of creating and coordinating a set design, special effects, costumes, makeup, music, and many other elements and details to transport the viewer, in real time, to a unique space and moment that only theater makes possible. That is why we have to feel very proud of Caligae Teatro, which will be ten years old in 2023.

The Caligae family has achieved a great challenge. Staying in time, improving and renewing without ceasing to surprise us, and always with the desire to see them again on stage soon. This would not have been possible without the talent, enthusiasm, dedication and perseverance of Engra and Mellado. That from the beginning they were very clear, and this is how they have instilled in the actors and actresses, that belonging to Caligae Teatro is not a whim or hobby, it requires and supposes great teamwork to arouse emotions and transport the viewer to another world. Being part of Caligae Teatro means commitment and dedication because you have to measure up, the best of yourself, surpassing yourself, adding and growing day by day.

As the directors and members of Caligae Teatro well know, theater is a space for understanding, creativity, and trust that allows you to analyze everything that surrounds you from different perspectives. It forces you to work on your emotions and thoughts, to overcome fears and complexes. It improves verbal and non-verbal communication, the ability to concentrate, empathy and understanding. Develop skills to understand others. It reinforces self-esteem, provides security and a constant desire to excel. Theater is a powerful tool, it gives you the power to tell the truth.
