California State Beaches Temporarily Closed as Hurricane Hilary Approaches

California officials have taken precautionary measures as Hurricane Hilary approaches the region, temporarily closing all state beaches in Orange and San Diego Counties. The closures are in effect on Sunday and Monday, and also impact inland state parks in the storm’s path. This includes Cuyamaca State Park, Ocotillo Wells State Vehicular Recreation Area, and Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. Reservations for camping grounds in the affected areas have been canceled due to the potential for significant rain and life-threatening floods. Governor Gavin Newsom has declared a state of emergency for Southern California in response to the powerful storm, which is currently classified as a category 2 hurricane. Stay tuned for further updates on Hurricane Hilary.
