Julio Urías is still awaiting a decision from Major League Baseball following a sanction against him after being accused of domestic violence by his partner.
The former Dodgers pitcher was arrested on suspicion of felony domestic violence in September 2023 outside BMO Stadium.
After being arrested, Urias was found guilty of a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence. A year after the accident, the American newspaper, LA Times, shared the video that was provided by the California Highway Patrola, after the agency investigated the accident.
What happened to Julio Urías and his partner?
The video shows Julio Urías running after his wife, when he pushes her against a fence and pulls her by the hair or shoulders.
The two were separated, but the Mexican can be seen throwing a punch with his left hand, seconds later he is taken by security from outside the LAFC stadium.
The video was recorded by an anonymous witness and has not been seen by the public. It lasts 72 seconds and the faces of most of the people in the video are blurred to comply with California privacy rights, according to the CHP report.
According to the same report, it mentions that Urías and his wife were the only two parties involved.
Will Julio Urias be suspended from the MLB?
For the moment, the Major League BasebalMLB has not said whether or for how long it will suspend Urías, but he could become the first player suspended twice under the league’s policy on domestic violence and sexual assault.
“MLB continues to gather all relevant evidence in our investigation,” a league spokesperson shared Wednesday. Major League Baseball Players Association declined to comment Wednesday, as did Urias’ agent, Scott Boras.
The player is currently on administrative leave, since last month of the 2023 season and became a free agent.
Under MLB’s domestic violence policy, the commissioner is authorized to suspend a player for violating the policy.
Urías, 28, recorded the final out of the Dodgers’ 2020 World Series championship. He led the National League in wins (20) in 2021 and earned run average (2.16) in 2022.
