A mother was heroically filmed fighting an intruder from her home in Rancho Cucamonga, California, while her two young sons played out front.
During the October 26 meeting, the mother and her two daughters were in the family garage when a man ran up to them, forcing her to board him.
The Rancho Cucamonga Police Department has since identified him as Rasmuss Peter Rasmussen, 31, and he was arrested shortly thereafter.
The mother, who was afraid of being identified for the safety of her family, told a local television channel that she thought the intruder wanted to take her daughters, aged five and six.
“I thought he would take my girls,” he told CBS Los Angeles. “I also had my one-year-old son in the back in a high chair.”
Her husband and son arrived within minutes and knocked the man to the ground. Images of the surprising encounter were shared on the PublicFreakuut thread at Reddit.
Police said the father and son had been looking for Rasmussen because he had been out of the house shortly before the incident acting “strangely.”
“I saw him go into the driveway and my first instinct was to block it to give my children enough time to escape,” the mother told reporters.

The Rancho Cucamonga Police Department said Rasmussen was charged with being under the influence of a controlled substance and an investigation is underway.
The San Bernrdino County District Attorney’s Office will determine if there are additional charges, including trespassing, to be brought against the 31-year-old.
“I don’t think that’s enough,” said the mother. “I think I should go to jail and stay in jail.”
