After several days of investigation, the California authorities concluded that the remains located on Mount San Antonio do belong to actor Julian Sands, who disappeared since January 13 in this same area.
“The identification process of the body found on Mount Baldy on June 24, 2023 has been completed, and it has been identified as 65-year-old Julian Sands,” the sheriff’s office told international media.
However, they limited themselves to giving more details, both about the discovery of the body and the causes and date of death, which, they assured, have not yet been determined: “The cause of death is still being investigated, pending of additional examinations.

Sands’s disappearance was reported, at the beginning of this 2023, by his family, after the actor did not return from a mountain excursion. So far, what is known is that at some point during the walk, the actor lost his way and went to an unknown area.
In addition to being a renowned actor, Julian Sands was an experienced mountaineer who claimed to be the happiest man in the world when he was “near the top of a mountain on a gloriously cold morning.”
He is survived by three children, two of whom were the result of his second marriage to the writer Evgenia Citkowitz.
The summit where Sands disappeared is the highest in the San Gabriel range and is a popular destination for Los Angeles residents.
