California asks Canada and Australia for help to fight forest fires: “We haven’t seen this in years”

Nearly 560 fires are raging in the US state. At least six people have died, 43 people have been injured and more than 500 houses and other buildings have been destroyed. More than 175,000 residents have now received the compelling advice to seek refuge.

“These fires are depleting our resources and our staff,” Newsom said. He has asked for help from what he calls “the world’s best wildfire fighters from Australia”. Firefighters from other American states such as Oregon, New Mexico and Texas also help out.
