Jerome’s spikes put Kochi on the defensive early on. Daniel Motasedi’s blocks made them more of a challenge. Calicut took full control of the game after Spikers’ defense collapsed due to Chirag Yadav’s attack. Calicut Heroes won the first set easily with Mohan Ukrapandyan’s excellent passing.

A series of unforced errors by the under pressure Heroes paved the way for Kochi to come back into the game. The Heroes changed tactics in the fourth set. Calicut regained strength as the Iranian brought Daniel back into the fold and continued to attack with Chirag Yadav. Although Kochi won two consecutive points while the heroes stood on match point, Calicut won the set 15-12 with Captain Jerome’s spike.
