According to the company, the bike can be used for a variety of tasks, from courier delivery, for example, to patrolling. Interestingly, in contrast to from other models company, the Åik is classified as Class 2 in the United States, which in many cases equates it to ordinary bicycles, so a driver’s license is not required to operate.

The model uses a tubular aluminum frame, seat and handlebar height adjustment, Ergon saddle and handlebars are used. In the basic configuration, the novelty has a single 750 Wh battery located behind the saddle, it will last for 119.8 km of travel. At the same time, two additional batteries can be mounted on the sides of the rear pillar, which will increase the cruising range to 360 km. Batteries can be used to power electronics, power tools, and even coolers, which can be especially important for couriers delivering groceries in hot weather.

The speed limit is 32 km/h. The bike received an electric motor with a power of 500 W (peak power 1 kW), the torque is 100 Nm. Three riding modes are supported and uniform “helps to walk”. The Enviolo Extreme automatic transmission system is used, optimized for the truck version. The maximum load capacity is 200kg (including the 30kg weight of the bike itself, the rider, each of the 5.4kg batteries and of course the cargo). It uses 20-inch wheels with proprietary 3-inch tires and four-piston hydraulic brakes. Optionally, the device can be supplemented with LED optics.

The telematics module, designed for corporate buyers, is equipped with GPS, Bluetooth and GSM (allows you to work with the Cake App and the Fleet Management App), and can be integrated with third-party programs. There are “safety screws”, saddle locks and a GPS tracking system for locating the bike, which allows you to remotely activate an acoustic alarm.

The Åik is available to order now for $6,470, with deliveries expected in May. Cake says buyers can expect a variety of accessories to ship with the bike.
