Chairman of PKB Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin revealed the initial moment when the general chairman of the NasDem Party, Surya Paloh, asked him to become the vice presidential candidate (cawapres) Anies Baswedan. Cak Imin revealed that the moment of becoming ‘the second victim’ of Surya Paloh happened very quickly.
The historic moment is revealed Cak Imin in the Anies-Cak Imin declaration at the Majapahit Hotel, Surabaya, East Java, last Saturday (2/9). Cak Imin initially said that his process to become cawapres went quickly and smoothly.
“I feel that this whole process is going very quickly and smoothly. Because I always used to pray at every opportunity I always pray Ya Allah give me an easy and blessed path for the struggle of the Indonesian nation to be better and more noble. If the struggle I traveled with PKB this is in line with hopes and ambitions, so make it easy and smooth. That’s my istikhoroh and prayer,” said Cak Imin.
Cak Imin said that at that time Surya Paloh asked him to meet. Unexpectedly, during the meeting Surya Paloh asked him to accompany Anies in the 2024 presidential election.
“And alhamdulillah I met Bang Surya. Long time no see. Finally met in a short time. Our agenda needs to speak frankly. You know me and I know you. Wow, Bang Surya is inviting this war. I don’t like investigations any more. What is the term? investigate again? I don’t like tricks anymore. You don’t like tricks and I won’t play tricks with you. As a junior to a senior, of course I’m very happy,” he said.
But there is one thing that is difficult Cak Imin when asked to be Anies’ vice presidential candidate. Surya Paloh said he asked her to answer the proposal that second. In fact, Cak Imin first had to ask permission from his seniors at PKB.
“But what was a bit difficult was that I was asked for an answer right away. I thought I was different. Bang Surya was the most senior in NasDem. In me, there were still seniors, seniors, seniors, seniors. There were still many seniors, Kyai, Masaikh,” said Cak Imin .
While he was still unsure, he said Surya Paloh made threats if he didn’t immediately give an answer. Surya Paloh, he said, said he would not see him again if he did not accept the offer.
“But Bang Surya said. If you don’t want to shake hands, it means that we will never live to see each other again, if you are okay. I am sure that God willing, you will win and Indonesia will be better,” said Cak Imin.
