Cak Imin Expresses Concerns Over Voting Issues Abroad in 2024 Indonesian Elections

Vice presidential candidate number 1, Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin highlighting the voting process that took place abroad. Cak Imin admitted that he was concerned about several problems experienced by Indonesian citizens in various countries.

“Yes, this is worrying, there was a surge in voters which was then not handled. This is sad and of course this should have been prepared from the start, then AMIN’s national legal team will follow up on this so that there is a good solution,” said Cak Imin at the DPP PKB office, Jakarta. As is known, a video went viral of Indonesian citizens (WNI) in London, England, who were unable to exercise their right to vote in the 2024 elections. PPLN London explained that the ballot papers received by PPLN London were in accordance with the number of DPTLN and reserve ballots of 2%.

In the video seen detikcom Tuesday (13/2/2023), showed an Indonesian citizen arguing with someone. The Indonesian citizen said that he could not exercise his right to vote because the ballot papers had run out.

“Most of those queuing are non-DPT voters. If you are referring to the rules, it’s only allowed one hour beforehand, but if you only get an hour allocated, it’s impossible for all of them to be served within the time period which should end at 6 pm,” he said. The Kuala Lumpur Overseas Election Committee (PPLN) has also responded. He ensured that the voting situation was safely under control.

“Yes, that’s right, the enthusiasm of Indonesian citizens in Kuala Lumpur was extraordinary. However, the voting was safe, smooth and controlled thanks to the political maturity of our Indonesian citizens,” said PPLN Kuala Lumpur socialization division staff, Puji Sumarsono, to detikcomMonday (12/2/2024).

Apart from Malaysia and London, problems also occurred in Hong Kong. It is estimated that 70 thousand Indonesian citizens failed to vote at the polling stations.
