Caja Rural de Granada will hold a conference on subtropical crops in Almuñécar

It will be Thursday 24 November at the Casa de la Cultura from 10 in the morning

The use of recycled water, airborne fungus in avocados and fertilization, tropical pests and national and international markets along with a round table on the tropical sector are some of the topics that will be addressed at the Conference on Subtropical Crops that Caja Rural de Granada will celebrate on Thursday 24 November at the Casa de la Cultura in Almuñécar, with the collaboration of the Sexitan City Council.

On this day, after opening and welcoming from 10 in the morning, the first conference of the program which will deal with “the use of recycled water” will be addressed by the Israeli researcher Avner Silber. Institute of Soils, Waters and Environmental Sciences. RING. Volcano Center. Bet Dagan.

At 11, the second conference by Clemente Méndez Hernández is scheduled, who will talk about the cultivation of pitaya in the Canary Islands. Afterwards, at around 11:45, Dolores Fernández Ortuño, from the University of Málaga-IHSM-UMA-CSIC La Mayora, will speak, who will be in charge of reporting on the research on dry branch disease (aerial fungus) in avocado on the coast of Granada and Málaga.

Avocado fertilization will be the fourth conference of the day in which the Israeli Avner Silber will also speak.

The morning will conclude with a section on tropical pest control, which will be discussed by Sarra Bouagga. Researcher-Entomology R + D Koppert Spain.

In the afternoon, after the lunch break, from 3.30 pm, the national and European tropical fruit market will be discussed and will conclude with a round table from 4.15 pm.
