At least three people were killed and 49 injured when two passenger trains collided on Saturday (9/14) in Sarqia province, outside Cairo, Egypt’s health ministry said.
According to Al Ahram newspaper, two children are among the three dead in the train accident.
Transporting the wounded
About 40 ambulances rushed to the scene of the collision between the two trains, in the city of Zagazig, to transport the injured to nearby hospitals. Most were discharged after receiving first aid, but five are still hospitalized, the ministry said.

One train had just left the city of Zagazig bound for Ismailia, while the other was heading from Mansoura to Zagazig.

An expert committee was formed to investigate the causes of the accident while work is underway to remove the wagons and restore traffic on the railway line.
