Caicedo brings joy back to Santa Ana and San Miguel reserves a spot for the next phase – – 2024-04-13 11:32:19

Santa Ana Municipal defeated a struggling Ahuachapán 1-0 at the Óscar Quiteño Stadium and ended the streak of two consecutive defeats, while at the Correcaminos Stadium, San Miguel came back from Morazán and reserved a place for the next phase on matchday 34 of the Lottery Cup 2023-24 in the National Football League (LNF).

In Quiteño, a goal from Colombian Cristian Caicedo reached the Santaneco team to secure three important points to remain in sixth place in the classification table and vindicate themselves with their fans after falling 2-1 to the leader Cabañas and 5-1 against San Salvador.

Santa Ana took the lead from the 18th minute with a shot from the coffee grower, then generated more chances to extend the advantage but the scoreboard no longer moved.

With that action, the Santaneco team secured three important points to remain in sixth place with 59 points.

For Ahuachapán it was the third consecutive defeat, it was left with 45 points and it opens the opportunity for Sonsonate to snatch seventh place and for Alacranes to continue dreaming of getting into the classified group with its 41 units.

Morazan 1-4 San Miguel
San Miguel beat Morazán 1-4 at the Correcaminos Stadium and remained in third place in the classification table with 73 points, a figure with which it reserves a place for the next phase of the National Soccer League.

The Migueleños put themselves out of reach of Alacranes, who are positioned in ninth place with 41 points and even if San Miguel lost the remaining seven games and the Norteños won the remaining ones, it would only reach 64 possible points.

San Miguel managed to solve a match that began losing 0-1 after the Torogoces goal that José Reyes scored with a left-footed shot in the 33rd minute that passed between the legs of some defenders and came to rest at the back of the goal defended by José Martín Mejia.

It was a hard setback for the Migueleño team, which in the first 45 minutes had at least three clear chances to score a goal, but Robinson Díaz and Erick Orellana were not sharp in the first half.

Goalkeeper Pedro Pérez was a key player for Morazán to close the first half with a 1-0 lead by making timely saves such as the free kick that he deflected into a handball in the 23rd minute.

Pérez once again excelled by containing a header from Josué Rosales who was looking for the net, in the 48th minute. Before that, he sent a missile from outside the area into a corner kick.

Miguel’s long-awaited tie came in the 64th minute with a powerful shot from Josué Eduardo Hernández Ramírez to culminate a good collective action by the garrobero team.

In the 77th minute, Óscar de la O received a pass in the area, lowered the ball with his chest and, faced with the desperate exit of the goalkeeper, opted for a soft touch to make it 1-2.

Erick Orellana increased the Garrobero team’s advantage with a great individual maneuver in the area and a powerful shot that was impossible for goalkeeper Pedro Pérez, in the 82nd minute.

In stoppage time, Leví Lazo put the score at 1-4 with a fine touch in the area after De la O overflowed on the left and put in a pass so that his teammate only managed to push the ball into the net.

San Salvador beat Alacranes 3-1 at the Gregorio Martínez stadium and maintains, for the moment, the fight for first place with Cabañas.

The goals of the capital team were signed by Sergio Mosquera, in the 39th minute to make it 1-0, then Juan Sánchez appeared to score a double in the 65th and 82nd minutes.

The only goal for the northerners was scored by John Lemus, in the 55th minute.

With the victory, San Salvador reached 79 points, the same as Cabañas has accumulated but will play its match of the date until Thursday against Usulután as a visitor.
