On Wednesday June 1, volunteers from the prevention team of the departmental committee of the league against cancer met with members of National Education, teachers and the director of MGEN for a presentation of the results of the actions carried out in the Batch. The objective is to make young people aware of everything that can allow them to live and stay healthy by moving away from the risk factors of cancer and other serious diseases: diet, physical exercise, danger from the sun, sleep, addiction. to screens and of course the risks associated with tobacco were proposed to the pupils.
Volunteers intervened this year in 18 establishments; 14 elementary schools, 3 colleges and 1 high school. In all, 40 classes met, 69 sessions provided and 1,325 students educated, which represents 103 hours of activities and 235 volunteer hours.
A jury also awarded a prize to the classes that took part in the annual artistic challenge: pedagogy prize to the CE2 class in Prayssac, originality prize to the CM1/CM2 class in Cajarc, French language prize to the CP1/ CE1 in Prayssac, gastronomy prize in the CP2/CE1 class in Prayssac and interactivity prize in the CM1 class in Prayssac.
This very convivial meeting allowed the volunteers to reflect on the continuity of its action next year. The current need is above all to recruit new volunteers in order to extend this action to the entire department. It is most often young motivated retirees who are trained and supported.
