Cagliari wins in Udine in the 120th minute, in the round of 16 with Milan – Il Tempo

UDINE (ITALPRESS) – Cagliari beats Udinese 2-1 after extra time in the match valid for the round of 32 of the 2023/2024 Italian Cup thanks to goals from Nicolas Viola and Gianluca Lapadula and qualifies for the round of 16, where they will meet Milan. The Sardinian team started off on the right foot, immediately showing up in the opposing half of the field with Oristanio, who was the most active in the first half of the match. In the 13th minute it was he who kicked for the first time, missing the target. The rossoblù team loses Di Pardo due to injury in the 18th minute, so coach Claudio Ranieri is forced to replace him by sending Zappa onto the pitch. A few minutes later Oristanio, served by Jankto, has a great opportunity, but Okoye’s intervention saves him. In the 24th minute Kamara goes on his own and attempts a shot, ignoring Lucca in a better position to shoot. Okoye turns out to be the man of the match in the first 45 minutes as he makes two decisive interventions between the 30th and 33rd minutes, first on Shomurodov and then once again on Oristanio. The two teams, therefore, go to rest with a 0-0 score, even if Cagliari can complain about the numerous unexploited chances. At the start of the second half, Udinese scores with Lucca, but the match director cancels it for offside after a consultation with the VAR. The Bianconeri show a different approach compared to the first minutes and in the 50th minute they hit the crossbar again with Lucca. After repeated attempts the Friulian team broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute thanks to Axel Guessand, who took advantage of a perfect cross from Thuavin and put it past Radunovic. Cagliari pushes in search of an equalizer and finds it in the 80th minute thanks to a goal from a free kick by Nicolas Viola, favored by an error by Okoye. The match goes into extra time and, just when it seems like it’s time for penalties, Gianluca Lapadula
scores at the end and gives Cagliari qualification.
