Yet another feat by Cagliariwho in the match that closes the fifteenth day of A league beats 2-1 in comeback Sassuolo. The training of Ranieriin the 93rd minute, is 1-0 down due to a goal by Erlic (7′), but wins it in injury time thanks to a deflection by Lapadula in the 94th minute and with a bicycle kick in the 99th minute Pavoletti. The Sardinians abandon the relegation zone and reach 13 points, -2 behind the Neroverdi Dionysiswith ten men from the 62nd minute for the red card Tressoldi.
THE MATCH
The match that closes the fifteenth day of Serie A once again confirms one of the laws of this championship: it’s never over with Cagliari. The Sardinians beat Sassuolo 2-1 in a comeback, but the incredible thing is that, in the 93rd minute, Ranieri’s team was 1-0 down. The start was immediately full of emotion: Scuffet performed a true miracle on Matheus Henrique’s header, but from the subsequent corner kicks came the 1-0 scored in the 7th minute, again with a gored shot, by Erlic. In the 20th minute, the Sardinians came very close to equalising, but Prati’s header was sensationally saved on the line by Castillejo. The black-greens respond with Pinamonti’s right-footed shot from the edge not far from the post to the right of Scuffet. The hosts try again with Goldaniga’s header too central and blocked by Consigli, then Lapadula comes close to making it 1-1.
In the second half, Ranieri breaks the deadlock in the 59th minute by introducing Pavoletti and Luvumbo and a few minutes later the situation is further addressed: Tressoldi, already booked, intervenes on Lapadula and gets the second yellow card, leaving his team with ten men. Dionisi immediately runs for cover with Ferrari and Pedersen replacing Castillejo and Laurienté. The rossoblù immediately try to capitalize on their numerical superiority, but Prati’s shot is muffled and ends up docilely in the hands of Consigli. In the final, Pavoletti tries to head it, but Matheus Henrique saves his attempts on the line. Sassuolo would also find the 2-0 with Bahrami, however canceled out for millimeter offside.
It will be the biggest regret for Dionisi’s team, because within five minutes Cagliari comeback: in the 94th minute, Lapadula finds a deflection in the area and makes it 1-1, while in the 99th minute, with time practically up, Pavoletti finds a sensational overhead kick that makes it 2-1. Yet another turnaround for Ranieri, now out of the relegation zone: he is at 13 points, -2 behind a Sassuolo who to define as mocked is even an understatement.
REPORT CARDS
Tracks 6.5 – One of the most positive despite coming out at 0-1: he came close to scoring several times during the match
Lapadula 7 – He charges with the goal which is worth the draw, the reward for a match of struggle and sacrifice.
Pavoletti 7.5 – Find yet another play worth three points and more. A sensational overhead kick that drives the Unipol Domus crazy.
Tressoldi 4.5 – His expulsion changes the game: he officially puts the Sardinians back in the game.
Castillejo 6.5 – The best play comes in the other penalty area: he saves Prati’s header on the line. A play, unfortunately for him, useless.
