Cagliari –
Juventus back to winning ways in the Italian League continued. Bianconeri left before the comeback to beat the host Cagliari 2-1.
The Cagliari vs Juve match was held at the Unipol Domus Stadium, Sunday (10/4/2022) early morning WIB. Joao Pedro brings Red Blue quick lead, then Matthijs de Ligt scored the equalizer to make sure the first half was even.
Juventus bounced after the restart. Dusan Vlahovic emerged as the hero of the Old Lady after scoring the winner.
This result marks the revival of Juventus after surrendering at the hands of Inter Milan the previous week. The additional three points achieved still put Juve in fourth place in the standings with 62 points from 32 matches.
Meanwhile Cagliari are still in the threat of relegation. Cagliari sits in 17th place with 25 points, only three points away from below, Venezia who still has two matches in hand.
The course of the match
Juventus pressed Cagliari in the early minutes of the game. However, it was Cagliari who managed to steal a goal to lead 1-0 in the tenth minute.
Starting from the ball, Paulo Dybala was snatched by Rzvan Marin in midfield. Marin then swept down the right flank before sending a pass for Joao Pedro. The last named player finished with an accurate right footed shot from inside the penalty box which was lodged in the top corner of the Juventus goal.
Juventus responded 13 minutes later. Dybala’s curling long-range effort was parried by goalkeeper Alessio Cragno, the ball falling in Luca Pellegrini’s path on the edge of the box. Pellegrini fired a shot that hit Adrien Rabiot before breaking through the Cagliari goal.
Unfortunately, the referee annulled the goal after checking through the VAR monitor. Pellegrini’s shot hit Rabiot’s arm first.
Juventus’ efforts to score the equalizer finally paid off in the 45th minute. Juan Cuadrado brushed the ball and ended it by crossing into the penalty box. De Ligt stood free to greet with a header, the ball bouncing to the ground before nestling in the bottom corner of the Cagliari goal.
The score is now 1-1, a score that lasted until halftime.
Just two minutes after the kickoff of the second half, Juventus found the net. Dybala’s low pass which started from a corner was completed by Giorgio Chiellini. However, the goal was again disallowed because Chiellini was offside.
Juventus continued to press. Vlahovic’s shot only nestled on the outside of the Cagliari goal net, while Cuadrado’s shot from a tight angle still missed the far post.
Goal! Juventus turned ahead in the 75th minute. Vlahovic rattled the Cagliari goal to make it 2-1. Dybala crossed for Vlahovic in the penalty area. Although Altare touched the ball first, Vlahovic stretched his legs to finish with a low effort.
Cagliari was quite aggressive in attacking the Juventus defense in the last 10 minutes. In injury time, Leonardo Pereiro stabbed in from the right and rounded twice before curling a shot just wide.
