Dj José Padilla has passed away at the age of 64. Relatives of the artist, who was a resident DJ in Café del Mar in Ibiza, make via Instagram known that he died in his sleep on Sunday.
“With sadness we bring you the news that José Padilla passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday in his beloved Ibiza”, can be read on Instagram. His family and friends thank fans for sending messages and donations to Padilla, who announced that he was suffering from colon cancer in July.
“Now that he is no longer there, the sunset in Ibiza will never be the same again, but his music will always stay with us. Adiós maestro”, his relatives conclude.
Padilla was born in Barcelona, but moved to Ibiza in the 1970s. From 1991 he started working as a resident DJ at the club Café del Mar. In 1994 he composed an album of the same name for the first time. It was the beginning of the popular Cafe del Marseries of which he composed the first six albums. More than 25 records have now been made.
Padilla released his first solo album in 1998 Souvenir from. The record was released in 2015 So Many Colours. Although best known for his work in Ibiza and for Café del Mar, Padilla has toured worldwide with his music.
