Guest 2: Kwame Amponsah, a football enthusiast from Ghana.
Host: Hello everyone, I’m your host. Today, we have two guests to discuss the latest news from the Confederation of African Football (CAF). Serra Wurie, a sports journalist based in Cote d’Ivoire, and Kwame Amponsah, a football enthusiast from Ghana, are here with us today. Welcome to the show.
Let’s start with you, Serra. Can you tell us your thoughts on the shortlist of players nominated for the African Player of the Year award?
Guest 1: Thank you for having me. As for the shortlist, it’s quite interesting. I was quite surprised to see Simone Aydingra on the list, as he has not been performing consistently well for his club Brighton & Hove Albion recently. However, the absence of Egyptian players from the list is quite notable, given their strong history in African football. It also shows how competitive African football has become over the years, with many talented players emerging from different countries.
Host: What do you think, Kwame?
Guest 2: I agree with Serra. The absence of Egyptian players from the list is quite striking. However, we cannot deny the quality and performances of the other nominated players. Achraf Hakimi, in particular, has been outstanding for Paris Saint-Germain this season, and he fully deserves his spot on the shortlist. I’m excited to see who wins the award this year.
Host: Moving on to the ceremony, the city of Marrakesh in Morocco will host the Africa’s Best Awards ceremony. How significant is this for African football?
Guest 1: Hosting the ceremony in Morocco is a great move by CAF. It showcases the progress and development of African football not only
