For the communication department of Caen the sea, it’s an obsession: convincing the inhabitants of Paris to come and settle in the Calvados area. Thursday, December 10, 2020, on his Twitter account, the Urban Community retweeted a link to a page entitled “10 cities to leave Paris without leaving work”. It must be said that Caen is in a good position, on the third step of the podium.
Arrange your working time
If the article is a bit dated, with a publication dating back to the end of 2019, it lists major cities located at 2:30 or less from the capital. Cities which are then classified according to criteria defined by the company Wan2bee, an online agency specializing in employment and which “applies for you”.
This company wished, through this article, to highlight cities that allow people to keep their work within a Parisian company. Wan2bee recognizes, however, that it must be ensured that an arrangement of schedules is possible, and that teleworking or working during transport times is possible. “A 4-day week, or two days of teleworking per week are less and less marginal notions. “
According to Wan2bee, Caen lacks… stores
Caen thus arrives in third position with the score of 8/10 behind Montargis and Chartres, and ahead of Rouen, Bordeaux, Vernon, Lille, Orléans, Rennes and Reims. Among the arguments pleading the cause of the city of William the Conqueror, we find “a rich historical heritage”, “very good transport networks” and a notable artistic dimension. Caen is also presented as a “strong gastronomic city. “
On the negative side, Wan2bee highlights traffic problems, “often congested”, a “lack of shops”, the absence of the TGV and a “lack of dynamism”. On the other hand, the price of real estate, with an average rent per square meter around 12 € seems to be a valuable asset compared to some of its pursuers.
