The Governing Council of the Institute for Development, Employment and Training (IFEF) of the Cádiz City Council has made a crucial decision this Monday by approving a credit supplement of 571,619.37 euros. This step is essential to ensure the necessary resources that will allow the completion of the first phase of the rehabilitation works of the historic Tobacco Warehouses. This phase includes naves 1 and 5, as well as part of platform space 1.
This amount will be added to the 702,000 euros already committed by the City Council, which will be formalized after the approval of a credit modification of 2.9 million euros in an extraordinary plenary session scheduled for this Friday. This budget adjustment seeks to resolve the possible lack of financing for Edusi projects, affected by delays in their execution or processing in previous years.
The deputy mayor for Economic Development and Employment, Beatriz Gandullo, has emphasized the importance of being proactive. Gandullo has expressed the commitment of the government team to guarantee that the works on the Tobacco Depots not only begin, but are completed properly, avoiding delays due to lack of funds.
Gandullo has also indicated the city council’s intention to certify most of the work before the end of the year. This effort seeks to minimize the amount of municipal financing necessary, in a context where a possible extension of the execution period of the Edusi projects by the national government is still expected, a period that ends on December 31.
The decision made this Monday reflects a significant effort by Cádiz City Council to preserve and revitalize a key element of its historical and cultural heritage, while underscoring the importance of planning and financial management in large-scale projects.
